Day 7 on the Medical Medium Protocol – Day Trip Planning
What a long day! We had to go out of town on a day trip by car. This presented logistical planning issues regarding carrying enough cleanse-specific meals and snacks for two for a full day.
Everything had to be prepared in advance and packed into containers and then put into either an insulated bag or an ice chest. I opted for an insulated bag since it was lighter and more portable and it was a cool day.
We started the day with lemon water and I immediately started juicing the celery. I poured the juice into some empty Pellegrino water bottles (why of course — the green tint matches the celery juice) and put them into the tote to drink 30 minutes later.
In retrospect, maybe I shouldn’t have done that, because I reread that Anthony says the celery juice oxidizes quickly and should be swallowed as soon as it is juiced. Next time, I’ll just skip the lemon water and drink celery juice first thing in the morning.
I then threw the smoothie ingredients into the Vitamix and blended them. I poured the mix into glass jars and stuck one of the salad boxes between them so they wouldn’t break.

This lightweight 50-oz container makes a perfect portable salad lunch tote!
It worked out great.
I brought extra bananas, apples, celery, and dates in case we got held up in traffic (we did, and the snacks saved the day). I also took along most of the supplements.
Since the day started so early, we had to stretch the time between meals and snacks a little, and add one extra snack, but it worked out very well — except for the smoothie in glass containers. The weight and the hazards of breakage were really too much to deal with.
I like to reduce the dangers of BPA and other toxic chemicals leaking from plastic whenever possible by using glass over plastic, but in this case, it was just too cumbersome. Next time, I will use plastic containers — safety first.
Other than the hassle of carrying a lot of containers and weight, we were able to eat everything on the diet, didn’t have to cheat, and didn’t go hungry.
I had great energy all day, which is also surprising for a day with a lot of travel and not much sleep.
If someone is concerned about managing the diet in a similar situation or a 9 to 5 work situation, I’m sure it can be done by preparing the meals in advance, packing them up and taking them to work, along with snacks and supplements.
