Day 42, Breaking the Medical Medium Protocol, Day 10 – The Power of Celery Juice Pulls Through
Amazingly, I had no trouble digesting the food I ate at the dinner last night (and the food they send us home with).
What a surprise, considering I ate quite a mixture of meats, vegetables, oils, flavors and spices that would normally have sent my digestive system into a tail-spin! I was just fine last night and I’m fine today!
The celery juice I’ve been drinking every morning must have done it. When I think back at how bad my digestion was before the celery juice, and how I would have suffered after a feast like that, the celery juice accomplished a miracle!
The good thing was that the menu was not all that far off the diet, in that the carbs (like rice and potatoes with sauce) were easily avoidable. There were lean meats and plenty of vegetables, and great salads. Of course most of the meats (and everything else) had added fats (mostly in the cooking) that I haven’t eaten in 42 days, and even before that. But essentially, the food was not that terribly far off the diet and, after all, it was extremely well-prepared.
The only thing of concern was the triple-layer, buttercream-chocolate-and-marzipan-filled cake. I only gave it a taste… well, maybe two… OK, OK, three bites. And then there was the walnut torte with chocolate filling. Only one or two bites of that, too… that I remember.
Other than a little bit of “air bubbling” in my intestines, I was fine… except for that 1/2 a pound or so I gained ๐
After finishing up the take-home leftovers from the party, the question is, how will my digestive system hold up another night with all that unfamiliar food and calories thrown into it? I’ll find out in the morning…
