Day 32-After the Medical Medium Protocol: Wild Blueberries in My Smoothie
Finally! I put real wild blueberries into my wild blueberry-banana smoothie today!
I still can’t believe I couldn’t find any wild berries this long. I’ve only been using domesticated all this time. The right berries finally came in (AFTER I finished the 28-Day Medical Medium Protocol), but at least I have some now.
Wild blueberries are very delicately flavored (at least when frozen), so the smoothie doesn’t taste as “blueberry” flavored as before, but its still very good.
Anthony William recommends the wild blueberries from Maine if you live in the United States. For those that live in Canada, he recommends the wild blueberries from the Boreal region.
Living on the other side of the U.S., I was having a hard time finding wild blueberries of any kind. In fact, I had not found ANY fresh or frozen wild blueberries from Maine anywhere here. I guess I’m just too far from Maine [Note: availability has increased since then).
The berries I finally found come from the Boreal region of Quebec, Canada. Looking at the map, I see that the Boreal region is just across the border from Maine. I’m hoping that’s close enough and the berries are essentially the same – at least close enough. The Boreal region is a group of protected lands mostly in Canada on the North American continent and also in Europe and Russia. The Canadian boreal region spans the country from the most easterly part of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador to the border between the far northern Yukon and Alaska. The area is covered with coniferous forests, especially spruce, and interspersed with vast wetlands, mostly bogs and fens. It extends into Alaska.
The berries grow naturally in the healthy soil and unique climates there. Being wild and protected means the berries do not have anything added to them (like fertilizers or pesticides) — making them naturally “organic.”
Just as I found the right berries, it’s already time to break the protocol and start introducing other foods. However… I just realized that I’m afraid to go off the diet because I’ve been feeling so much better, and I don’t want that to change.
After every other detox I’ve been on, as soon as I go off of it, my health soon starts slipping and I start gaining weight again. I don’t want this to happen this time.
As well as I’ve been feeling, there are still plenty of aches and pains, dizziness and other issues that show me I’m not entirely out of the woods yet. It would be easy to start sliding back.
But…I have a decision to make. I have been invited to a big family event in 9 days where there will be food — very unique catered food made by a superb Eastern European chef.
I can stay on the diet strictly and forgo the food and be a pillar of strength and a champion for the cleanse. However, that puts me at risk of offending the hosts… AND missing out on the incredible food… AND not feeling part of the celebration. Or I can start modifying the diet and get to where I can handle cooked foods again by then — like proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
I must admit, I have been craving protein a little – as in chicken and beef (not that I ever ate much beef before the cleanse). Since I haven’t been craving sweets or carbs, I’m taking that as a sign I could use some protein.
And when it comes to the food at the event — Oh, my, the food! Food this good doesn’t come around every day… or even every year. It’s really going to be special.
I can’t pass that by. Man does not live by wild blueberry-banana smoothies alone, right?
So, I need to get ready. Today will officially be my last day of the strict detox.
We have several beautiful zucchinis from the garden that have been sitting in the refrigerator waiting to be eaten. Tomorrow is the day we start and I can hardly wait!
