Day 36-Breaking the Medical Medium Protocol, Day 4
My hunger is insatiable today. I was starving well before snack time (after my breakfast smoothie). The snack didn’t fill me up like it usually does. Less than an hour later, I wanted FOOD! Substantial food.
The breakfast smoothie and snacks have always held me for a good two hours. But not today.
It seems a shift has taken place. Perhaps its because I’ve upset the glucose balance I’ve been maintaining during this cleanse. Today I’m really craving protein and my digestion seems to be working harder. I’ll try adding some protein to my diet. Time to cook up a pot of chickpeas.

Later that day…
The chickpeas hit the spot! Oh, they were so good… so satisfying… so hearty!
I also discovered that chickpeas go very well with the orange-avocado dressing and a little purple onion. I could eat a whole bowl of just that.
Should I add 1/2 cup of chickpeas to my breakfast for the protein? I might. I might even blend it right into the smoothie. I’ll see how my hunger is tomorrow.
Later again that day…
Uh oh – the first sign of trouble occurred just as I was getting ready for bed. Intestinal cramps sent me running to the bathroom. Seems my digestive system wasn’t quite ready for the chickpeas.
But then, the same thing happens with every detox diet I’ve been on. Things cough and sputter for a while, then settle down. So who knows if its the chickpeas or just residual cleansing. I need to get used to digesting solid food again, at least until the next cleanse, so I’ll have to go through this temporary discomfort.
In any case, better not add any chickpeas to my breakfast tomorrow (or any day). The bananas and berries are just what I need and are quite sufficient.
